Stuart and his wife Judy, together with a dedicated team of other volunteers, founded Wallingford Museum as a charitable Trust in 1981, to bring the history of Wallingford alive for the people of the town and its visitors. It was Stuart's artistic vision that inspired the colourful and attractive displays that have always been such a feature of the museum. His professionalism, expertise and leadership ensured that the museum set the highest standards of presentation, care of collections and attention to detail from the outset.
During the last thirty-one years Stuart, with Judy at his side, has inspired and led the growing team of volunteers, seeing the museum through many developments, including doubling its size in 2005, when it took over the whole of Flint House and became a charitable company.
The loss of Stuart's leadership, flair and constant sense of humour leaves a sad void, but it will be filled by the continuing enthusiasm of our team, who will strive to keep his legacy alive.
