Progress to Date October 2009: Project idea hatched. Preliminary plans drawn up. 16 November 2009:
Presentation to Wallingford Town Council (landlords of Flint House)
- unanimous and enthusiastic support for the project, permission granted
to build on the site and permission granted to use the Kinecroft for the
timber preparation and build events in July & August. 18 November 2009: Front page coverage in Wallingford Herald 9 December 2009: Private Launch (sponsored by the George Hotel) - guests included Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire; Chairs of Oxfordshire County and South Oxfordshire District Councils; Mayor and Councillors of Wallingford Town Council; representatives of local businesses and organisations. Information pack (sponsored by NP Design & Print) distributed. 8 January 2010: Planning Application submitted 16 January 2010: Public Launch held all day in Wallingford Town Hall. Over 150 people attended - 92 signed up in support of the project. 80 Sponsor a Beam forms were taken by visitors. (see photo by Stuart Emmerson below)
20 January 2010: Planning Application registered by SODC and appeared on their website: Ref P10/W0035. 17 March 2010: Planning Permission granted 10 April 2010: Grand Auction raises over £6,800 plus a further £5,000 donation from ARC How are we doing? We have received approx £50,000 in beam and peg sponsorship, promises, donations, fund-raising and the value of the timber donated.. Through the generosity of local woodland owners, most of the oak trees we need have been promised to us. We currently have a number of grant applications
